State Representative touts Griffin as the “conservative leader”
to represent Second District

LITTLE ROCK – Second District Congressional candidate, U.S. Army Reservist and former U.S. Attorney Tim Griffin today announced the endorsement of District 32 State Representative Allen Kerr (R-Little Rock) in his bid for the Republican nomination to succeed outgoing U.S. Rep. Vic Snyder.

"The Second District is in need of conservative leadership to be a check against the agenda of Speaker Nancy Pelosi," Kerr said. "Tim Griffin is that leader. Like me, he is pro-jobs and pro-growth. He understands that the private sector, not the government, is the only source of sustainable jobs.

"We cannot afford to send another vote for Speaker Pelosi's agenda to Washington. We must nominate a strong, well-organized and well-financed conservative to stand against her. Tim Griffin is that conservative, and I look forward to him representing me in Congress."

"I am grateful for Rep. Kerr's endorsement," Griffin said. "He is a leader in the Arkansas House, stands on the side of taxpayers and stands against government waste and abuse.

"I salute him for exposing the double-dipping scandal where government officials earned regular pay and retirement pay at the same time. Rep. Kerr is a champion of the Arkansas taxpayer, and I am proud to have his support," Griffin added.

Kerr is the owner of the Allen Kerr Insurance agency, serving over 4000 customers and protecting over $500 million in assets. For twelve consecutive years his agency has won the President's Council award, the highest honor for Farmers Insurance Group.

A former member and budget chair of the Pulaski County Quorum Court, Kerr was the driving force to restore financial stability to the county after uncovering massive fraud. He was elected to the Arkansas House of Representatives in November 2008 where he proposed legislation to increase the daily reimbursement amount counties receive from the state for holding inmates in their facilities.

In 2009, Kerr uncovered the practice of some county elected officials to “retire” from their office after winning their unopposed primaries for re-election, then applying for retirement benefits. Once their retirement benefits kicked in, they “rehired” themselves to their elected position and drew both retirement and regular pay.

Kerr’s leadership on exposing this practice led to the Attorney General declaring it illegal on June 2, 2009.

Judge Lanny Fite says Griffin “right person” for Saline County, Second District

LITTLE ROCK – Second District Congressional candidate, U.S. Army Reservist and former U.S. Attorney Tim Griffin today announced the endorsement of six-term Saline County Judge Lanny Fite in his bid to replace Rep. Vic Snyder in 2010.

“As a former small businessman, and now as county judge, I know the private sector is the true path toward creating sustainable jobs and growing our economy,” Fite said. “Tim Griffin will be a champion of the private sector and that is why I believe he is the right person to represent my family, Saline County and the Second District.”

“Tim is a fellow veteran, and I know he will carry the voice of Saline County and Second District veterans with him to Congress,” Fite added.

“Judge Fite has earned the bipartisan support of the Quorum Court and the respect of his constituents, which is why he is serving his sixth term in office,” Griffin said. “I am honored to have his support and his endorsement of our grassroots campaign to represent the common sense conservative values of the Second District.

“In 2010, the Second District has the opportunity to help build a new conservative majority, and the road toward that majority runs through Hot Springs Village, Benton, Bryant and all of Saline County. I am proud to have the support of a fellow conservative like Judge Fite who wants to elect a congressman that will work for us, not against us," Griffin added.

A 1968 Benton High School graduate, Fite served in Vietnam with the U.S. Army. For 17 years, he was owner of Arkansas Asphalt.
Names retired Major General and prominent Maumelle citizen
to lead critical group

LITTLE ROCK – Second District Congressional candidate, U.S. Army Reservist and former U.S. Attorney Tim Griffin today announced the launch of the “Veterans for Griffin” coalition and named a decorated veteran and prominent member of the Maumelle community as its chairman.

Major General William C. Page, Jr. (U.S. Army, Ret.) will chair the veterans group, which will communicate with, organize and mobilize fellow veterans and their families to build grassroots support for Tim Griffin as the Second Congressional District’s next congressman.

“The voice of veterans, sadly, has been on the decline in Washington for several years; with only 22% of our Congress having any military experience,” Page said. “With a large population of military veterans, as well as a large military presence, the Second District needs a congressman who understands military life, who has been deployed to a war zone and has the experience that only a person in uniform can have. I am proud to offer my support to the only veteran running to represent the Second District: Tim Griffin.

“While Tim’s military experience is an important factor for me, his common sense conservatism, belief in American exceptionalism and understanding that the private sector is the key to creating jobs are the reasons why I am endorsing him to be my congressman,” General Page said.

“I am honored to have Maj. Gen. Page’s support, and I am humbled to have him lead this critical grassroots coalition,” Griffin said. “It is important that veterans, as well as families of veterans, continue to have a prominent voice in Washington.

“Currently, there are one million backlogged claims at the Veterans Administration. As an American, Reservist and Iraq War veteran, I find this unacceptable. There is a sacred tradition in the military: leave no one behind. We must do all we can to fulfill the debt we owe to the men and women who have worn our nation’s uniform, as well as their families,” Griffin added.

An Army aviator, artillery and armor officer, Page was commissioned in 1960 upon graduation from the U.S. Army Field Artillery Officer Candidate School in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Nebraska in 1971. He also attended the Field Artillery Officer Advanced Course, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and the U.S. Army War College.

Page flew in 21 different military aircraft during his Army career, totaling over 4,300 hours of military flight time with over 850 combat flying hours coming from two tours in Vietnam.

After command assignments in Vietnam, Korea and stateside, Page was promoted to the rank of Major General in 1989. His final active duty military assignment came in 1992 as Deputy Commanding General, III Corps in Fort Hood, Tex. - the world’s largest mechanized fighting force and military installation.

His awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, four Legion of Merits, the Distinguished Flying Cross, three Bronze Stars, 11 Combat Air Medals, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Korean Presidential Commendation Medal, and the Master Army Aviator Badge.

Since retiring from active military duty in 1993, Maj. Gen. Page has resided in Maumelle. He was a private governmental and financial consultant before retiring again in 2000. Page is the former Financial Chairman and Project Engineer for the Maumelle Veteran’s Memorial committee, having spearheaded the building of the Memorial in 2006. For his efforts, the Maumelle Area Chamber of Commerce recognized Page as its 2006 Citizen of the Year.

Page currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Pulaski Technical College and is active in the Maumelle Conservative Coalition.

Griffin Grassroots Call To Action

//

Dear Friend,

Yesterday was an exciting day for the campaign as I became the first Arkansan to file for office in 2010. As I told the press yesterday, “I wanted to get it done and get back to campaigning,” because I know that the road to a new conservative majority runs through Arkansas’s Second District, and we cannot waste the opportunity we have as conservatives in 2010.

I need your help. We are launching an eight-county, neighbor to neighbor blitz beginning on Friday to tell Arkansans about our campaign to represent the common sense conservative values that are lacking in Washington.

We need your help to distribute literature door to door. Please sign up and join our grassroots team today by visiting the Get Involved page of our website.

Since the start of our campaign, I have said that we will not cede any county, city or neighborhood in order to elect a Congressman that will work for us, not against us.

This will be the fourth-straight weekend our grassroots teams will have gone neighbor to neighbor in the Second District, and we are very excited about more and more grassroots volunteers joining our campaign every week.

Will you consider joining our grassroots team and help us go neighbor to neighbor this weekend? Or, if you are unable to do so this weekend, would you consider standing with our campaign in some other way?

Here are five ways you can join our team and help elect a new conservative majority in 2010:

Become a member of our grassroots team by visiting our Get Involved page.

Become a supporter of our campaign on Facebook.

Follow us on Twitter.

Contribute financially to our campaign.

Forward this email to 10 friends and ask them to join our grassroots team.

Now that our campaign has filed for the ballot, we cannot afford to let up. While we don’t yet know who will we will face from the other side, we can rest assured they will vote for Nancy Pelosi as Speaker and support her agenda, which includes increased taxes, a healthcare plan which does not reduce costs and a misplaced reliance on government to create jobs instead of the private sector.

In order to do our part in building a new conservative majority, our campaign must continue to build on our grassroots momentum. Please consider joining our team today and help us take the gavel away from Speaker Pelosi.

Sincerely,

Tim Griffin

P.S. It is critical we continue to build grassroots momentum this weekend. Please click here to join our team today.
